The OMG Heavy Duty Roofing Fastener
(#14) is designed to secure insulation and single-ply to steel
(0.7mm – 1.0mm), wood, and structural concrete decks. They are Factory Mutual
approved, and come in lengths from 32mm - 405mm.
Features & Benefits
·
Heavier shank & thread diameters
than most “heavy duty” roofing fasteners.
·
Deep thread for high pullout
resistance.
·
Extra sharp spade point for quick
installation in new or reroof applications.
·
In concrete applications, fastener
may be reversed out of predrilled hole without damaging the deck.
Application
Steel & Wood Decks - The
fastener must penetrate steel and wood decks a minimum of 20mm.
Structural Concrete Decks - The
fastener must penetrate structural concrete decks a minimum of 25mm.
Pre-drill a 5.0mm pilot hole at least 12.5mm deeper than fastener
embedment using a carbide tip SDS or straight shank bit.
Drive the fastener until a slight
depression is seen around the plate, or with very rigid insulation boards,
watch for the plate to dimple.
NOTE: Prior to job-start, contact MAK to perform a pullout
test to determine pullout values. Also, case must be taken not to
overdrive the fastener causing subsequent damage to the insulation
facer. The fastener must be tight enough so that the plate does not turn.
Coating
OMG CR-10 corrosion resistant
coating exhibits less than 15% red rust after 30 Kesternich cycles. CR-10
coating exceeds F.M. Approval Standard 4470.
Plates & Accessories
Use appropriate steel or plastic plates, depending on
the application. See Plates section.
On structural concrete decks, use a 5.0mm carbide tip SDS or straight
shank bit.
